Part of the itinerary is to visit Island Safari to experience elephant ride, watch elephant show, and even monkey trick shows (not in this post). I feel so bad looking at these elephants, they looked old and tired. According to one of the blue guys touring us, they're not but they're only spoiled from tourists.

I took this shot when riding the elephant (20 minutes), our elephant is kind of lazy, he doesn't move unless we feed him with bananas.

After the elephant ride, we headed to elephant show where elephants are making tricks like playing, kicking ball, and even playing basketball.

Phuket (Bukit in Malay) meaning Hills, Phuket is also known to its beaches. The place is full of foreigners from different parts of the world. There are lots of hotels and clubs around the area. We only stayed there for a day as part of our cruise itinerary.

We had a Glimpse of Patong Beach and its market. Hubby wants to buy Durian (smelly spiky fruit) and we couldn't find any, probably the reason is that foreigners doesn't like the smell. :)

Tea Time on Top of the Mountain

DH and I were having rose and raspberry tea during our break in trip to Hualien (Eastern Taiwan). The water used to make the tea is said to be the freshest spring water in that place. For us it's just an ordinary tea, what important is the ambiance!~drinking tea on top of the mountain :)

I'm feeling... I don't know how to explain, DH left for Vegas last week and we'll see each other again after 6 months. Actually, I'm used to this kind of situation and yet every time he's leaving I'm still feeling blue. But, I'm OK now, both of us were back in reality.

On my mind is to start cooking again, discovering some dishes I've never tried at the same time much healthier. I guess that's all for now.

Our third stop is here known as Swallow Grotto. We have to wear helmets for precaution. The suspension hanging bridge above is very long, but we're not allowed to cross it. According to the tourist guide, people wants to cross the bridge has to ask permission to the government first. They're only allowing 40 people per day.

We spent 40-45 minutes walking and capturing the place until we reached Jinhang Bridge (as seen at the background).

We're early birds when we arrived to Hualien (Eastern Part of Taiwan ) that's why we had the chance to cross Shakadang Trail or know as Mysterious Valley Trail as fast as we can and I had the chance to take lots of photos without hassles. As soon as we finished hiking, people started coming !

This one is not much scary, but we have to keep our head from hitting the rocks.

Luckily, the weather cooperated that day.

When it's raining or if it's windy, no one is allowed to enter.

Christmas with Family in the Philippines (2)

To continue the Christmas celebration,

my sister and sister-in-law were busy preparing food for lunch...

Most of us can't wait to try these home-made goodies :)

All set, family pictorial first...

Home-made ham, roast beef, corned beef, and ground meat (embutido)

Pork finely chopped (sisig), Koren Barbecue, Shrimp, and Sweet and sour fish

Fruit salad, macaroni salad, mix of brocolli and cauliflower salad,

and best of all my favorite cheese cake

After the blessings and champaigne, here we are - munch, munch...

Then, gift giving and receiving...

we have lots of Santa Claus in our family :)

The most awaited part, raining of coins ...

followed by paper bills, I can no longer run that fast and still I got almost

a thousand pesos :)... tiring but most of all it's fun!

Late in the afternoon, time to visit dads...
He left us 9 years ago today (January 8).

We love you daddy!

Christmas with Family in the Philippines (1)

It's been 8 years since the last time I spent Christmas with family and relatives in the Philippines. I was so happy that I decided to go home and be with them. What will I share today is the 24th of December, the usual routine we're doing back home. I'm sure you'll agree with me that Food really touched one culture as I've mentioned in my food blog.

Anyways, photos will tell you more of the culture we have in my family:

The 24th of December, every house is busy cooking, baking and preparing for the Christmas Day. Still, we have to eat before that day right? I stayed overnight in one of the sisters' house and she cooked this typical morning breakfast for us. Yes, we, Filipinos usually eat rice in the morning :)

For morning snack, her neighbor just came from the province of Pangasinan, we call this "Tupig", made of glutinous rice with fresh grated coconut. It's not that sweet! Yes, we, Filipinos eat morning snacks :)

My sister asked me if she will cook lunch that day, I told her I'm stuffed and I don't feel like eating. But then, her co-teacher went to the house and brought some food. Here we are, having abundant food at 3pm. W had pancit (rice noodles), aroz valenciana (sticky rice with chicken), ube cake (yam cake), fruit salad + soda.

Some of our relatives from the province of Lucena arrived, can't believed it's been 10 years since the last time I saw them. Time to go back to my older sister's house. Here, we attended midnight mass at Clark Chapel at 10 pm. Before that, we had a small dinner, eating rice and fried fish and mix vegetables using our hands to eat.

We went to Holiday Inn, Clark just for pictorials. They have real snowman and huge ginger bread house, we had so much fun. Time to go home and prepared for food.

Some of them, can't wait fo12 am, and just took nap wherever is comfortable :) Guess what?

At 12, they heard the coins sound and all of us shouting, they don't need somebody to wake them up. It's raining with coins and paper bills :) This is just one of our family traditions...

Our simple get together meal known us Noche Buena, small prayer, hugging, and greetings. Not only the family and relatives, and everyone in the house. We had chicken noodle soup, ham, cheese ball, bread, and sweet glutinous rice (tikoy).

Then, the exchange gifts come this time...the time to reveal the whom is whom...

My nieces and nephews opening their Stockings, they have been doing this since they were little :)

That ends our first part of Christmas in the Family. The following day will be more meaningful :) I'm glad I came home!

Three Days Visit to Madrid, Spain

We arrived in Madrid Barajas Airport @ 13:30 (2 hours flight from Paris). As soon as we arrived, (being a Filipino)I immediately grasped the signs around...

The place is full of churches (like every corner has one!). Aside from churches, there’s nothing much to see, except their plazas and museums. Maybe out of Madrid, like Santiago or Barcelona, we even thought of watching bull fight, but tickets were sold ahead of time (for at least a month)!

This is about my summer vacation in Europe (1st destination). Sophia (Taiwanese classmate) and I departed Taipei @ 19:30 via KLM, stop-over to Bangkok to Amsterdam. It was tiring, we waited 5 hours (+2 hours delayed) in Amsterdam for the connecting flight. After 19 hours, we arrived in Budapest around 15:00 the following day! We met Melinda (Romanian classmate) and her mom.

Hungary is in Central Europe and its capital is Budapest is divided by a river. Buda lies on the plains while Pest is more hills.

Since photos speak louder than words, here are some of them to share:

On our third day in England

First, we headed to southwest of London in Windsor Castle (the official residences of the Queen), and said to be continuously occupied for nearly 1000 years.

Second stop was the mysterious Stonehenge in Salisbury plains, the most popular prehistoric monument in the world, constructed 5,000 years ago.

We had lunch in one of a typical English bar/restaurant called Churchill. Hubby had his baked lamb liver, and I had baked fish and chips.

Lastly, we visited Bath, a Georgian city, and also entered the Roman Baths.

We’ll be back, but we need to save again :)
